Project Superintendent
O2 Employment Services is working with a construction company to find their next Project Superintendent for a project located in Garden Grove, CA. This is a full-time, project-based opportunity overseeing a California Public Works construction project. The ideal candidate will have strong commercial construction experience and be confident managing day-to-day field operations, subcontractors, safety, scheduling, quality control, and project documentation.
Project Superintendent Compensation & Benefits

Project Superintendent Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Construction Superintendent or similar field leadership role required
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods and practices
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, schedules, and contract documents
- Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and trades
- Public Works construction experience preferred
- Experience working with union subcontractors and workforce preferred
- Working knowledge of Cal/OSHA construction safety requirements
- Ability to serve as an onsite Competent Person within applicable training and experience
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and documentation skills
- Ability to identify problems, develop solutions, and make timely field decisions
- Comfortable using construction technology for plans, scheduling, documentation, photos, email, and project communication
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety training preferred/required based on project requirements
- First Aid/CPR and applicable Competent Person training may be required
Project Superintendent Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary onsite representative and oversee daily construction activities
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, testing agencies, consultants, and project personnel
- Maintain a safe, organized, professional, and productive jobsite
- Review plans, specifications, schedules, submittals, RFIs, and other project documents
- Ensure work is completed according to approved plans, specifications, codes, and contract requirements
- Develop and maintain short-term construction schedules
- Coordinate sequencing between trades to minimize delays, conflicts, and rework
- Monitor subcontractor manpower, production, quality, safety, and completion of work
- Coordinate inspections, testing, deliveries, and jobsite access
- Support Public Works requirements, including prevailing wage, apprenticeship, labor compliance, and accurate field documentation
- Coordinate effectively with union subcontractors, foremen, and workers
- Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections, toolbox talks, and pre-task planning
- Identify and correct unsafe conditions and exercise Stop Work Authority when necessary
- Maintain quality control throughout construction and coordinate punch-list completion
- Complete accurate daily reports documenting workforce activity, work completed, inspections, safety activities, delays, deliveries, and project progress
- Communicate project progress, scheduling concerns, safety issues, potential change orders, and other significant concerns to project management
- Anticipate potential issues and proactively keep the project safe, on schedule, and moving forward
