Food Service Manager
O2 Employment Services is working with a local non-profit to find their next Food Service Manager in Redding, CA. This is a full-time opportunity for an experienced food service professional who enjoys leading a team, managing high-volume kitchen operations, and creating quality meals for a large community. The ideal candidate will have strong commercial kitchen leadership experience, excellent organizational skills, and be comfortable overseeing staff, volunteers, food preparation, inventory, scheduling, and kitchen compliance.
Food Service Manager Compensation & Schedule:
- $23–$25 per hour, depending on experience
- Full-time opportunity
- Located in Redding, CA
Food Service Manager Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 5 years of food service industry experience
- Culinary Arts education and/or experience as a Lead Cook, Executive Chef, or similar role in a large-volume facility required
- Experience preparing or overseeing approximately 500 meals per day
- Serve-Safe certification required
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience supervising and training employees or volunteers
- Ability to plan menus, purchase ingredients, manage inventory, and minimize food waste
- Experience coordinating large-scale meals, banquets, or special events
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Clean DMV record and ability to meet company auto insurance requirements
- Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen
Food Service Manager Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily food service operations, meal preparation, service, and cleanup
- Supervise paid staff, volunteers, and program participants working in the kitchen
- Create balanced menu plans while minimizing food waste
- Manage purchasing and inventory of food and kitchen supplies
- Prepare and oversee meals for daily service and special events
- Ensure compliance with Health Department regulations and food safety practices
- Train kitchen staff and volunteers on Serve-Safe practices
- Coordinate routine cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment
- Track food donations, meals served, and other monthly statistics
- Maintain a clean, organized, fully stocked kitchen and dining area
- Assist with additional food service programs and duties as needed
