O2 Employment Services is working with a well-established local non-emergency medical transportation provider to find their next Gurney Technicians and Drivers. These are part-time, long-term opportunities based in Redding, CA.
The ideal candidate will be dependable, hardworking, have a positive attitude, enjoy helping people, and thrive in a team environment.
Compensation of the Gurney Technician and Driver:
- $16.50 - $17.00 per hour DOE (Gurney Technician)
- $17.75 per hour (Driver)
- Vision, dental, and medical insurance offered through O2
Schedule of the Gurney Technician and Driver:
- Gurney Technician: Typically Tuesday - Saturday afternoons; flexibility to be on call on Sunday afternoons is helpful but not required.
- Driver: Flexible schedule; to be discussed based on availability and business needs.
Qualifications of the Gurney Technician and Driver:
- Must possess and maintain a valid CA Driver’s License.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening, physical, and background check.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push up to 400 lbs on wheels.
- Able to walk up to 10 miles per day depending on facility size.
- CPR/First Aid certification required (or willing to obtain prior to start).
- No prior experience required for Gurney Technician — training provided.
- Previous driving or healthcare experience is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work with minimal direction and adapt to changing environments.
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with a passion for helping people.
Responsibilities of the Gurney Technician and Driver:
- Safely load, unload, and secure wheelchair, gurney, and ambulatory passengers.
- Provide consistent customer service to patients, families, and facility staff.
- Follow Universal Precautions and Infection Control practices.
- Operate wheelchair lift in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist with securing oxygen (O2) equipment when needed.
- Complete required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
- Follow facility protocols and maintain passenger confidentiality.
- Assist with maintaining vehicles (fuel, cleanliness, general upkeep).
- Transport passengers safely and efficiently as dispatched.
- Conduct pre/post vehicle inspections each shift.
- Maintain safe driving techniques and positive driving record.
- Represent the company in a professional and customer-friendly manner.
- Report any accidents, incidents, or complaints promptly.
