O2 Employment Services is partnering with a well-established University in Redding that is seeking a highly skilled Controller to join a well-established local University. This is a full-time, regular opportunity in Redding, CA.
The Controller is responsible for overseeing the university’s general ledger, financial reporting, and compliance functions. This role plays a key part in producing accurate financial statements and managing reporting processes across departments. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in accounting, finance, and supervisory responsibilities, and will bring both technical expertise and a collaborative spirit to the organization.
Controller Compensation:
- $80k – $90k Annually
- Full-time, Monday-Friday
- Benefits available after probationary period
Responsibilities of the Controller:
- Manage accounting processes for the University and related entities, including leadership and direct supervision of accounts payable, payroll and accounts receivable
- Assist CFO with development of an improved accounting environment to effectively manage operations and accountability
- Develop policy and procedures for University accounting operations consistent with sound internal control, data integrity, and financial and managerial reporting practices
- Responsible for daily operations of accounting system and University general ledger
- Prepare audit schedules and notes to the financial statements. Work directly with auditors when necessary
- Coordinate tax and other government research issues & compliance reporting, as required
- Responsible for monthly closing entries, financial statement presentation and other reports, as required
Preferred Qualifications of the Controller:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
- Minimum of seven years in accounting/financial management preferred
- Strong accounting and communication/interpersonal skills, including experience in not-for profit multi-entity organizations, financial statement preparation in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), government auditing standards (GAS), and U.S. Office of Management & Budget (OMB) circular A-133 compliance statement
- Demonstrate technological aptitude and proficiency through strong computer application skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, etc.); direct experience with Colleague is preferred
- Extensive knowledge with quality control development and maintenance, tax and other audit/compliance reporting issues related to corporate accounting
- Self-starter, highly motivated and well-organized
- Excellent organizational and administrative abilities, including demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Highly professional in integrity and demeanor
